Why headlights go cloudy
The protection fails before the plastic does.
Modern polycarbonate headlights leave the factory with UV protection. Sun, heat, weather and normal surface wear gradually break that protection down.

Once protection fails, the exposed surface can become cloudy, yellow or chalky.
When the deterioration is external, the proper fix is to remove the failed surface in a controlled way, refine the lens and protect it again — not simply keep polishing the same damaged layer.

Know the limit
Some problems are inside the headlight.
External restoration cannot repair a cracked housing, failed seal, internal moisture, damaged reflector, electrical fault or severe deterioration inside the lens.
REZ inspects the lens before beginning. If the problem is not an external-restoration issue, we'll tell you rather than selling you a process that cannot fix it.

Common questions
Before you book a headlight restoration.
Headlight condition varies from vehicle to vehicle. These are the questions that matter most before restoration begins.
Can every cloudy headlight be restored?
No. External oxidation and surface deterioration can often be restored, but internal haze, moisture, cracks, failed seals and electrical faults require a different repair.
Why not just polish the headlight?
When the damaged UV layer and oxidation remain on the surface, polishing alone may improve gloss without properly removing the deteriorated material underneath.
How long does the UV protection last?
The ceramic UV protection is marketed for up to 3 years. Actual durability varies with lens condition, preparation, application, vehicle storage, weather and environmental exposure.
Is REZ a mobile service?
Yes. REZ provides mobile headlight restoration across Sydney, so the restoration is completed at the customer’s vehicle within the service area.
